Kioti Skid Steer Repair: The 2 Jobs KIOTI Says Leave to the Dealer

Kioti skid steer repair splits cleanly into two piles: the maintenance and adjustments KIOTI expects owners to handle themselves, and the handful of systems its own manual says to leave to a dealer. That line gets blurry on a lineup this new — the SL750 and TL750 have only been on dealer lots since late 2023, so factory service literature hasn’t filtered into general repair advice the way it has for Kubota or Bobcat. What follows comes straight from KIOTI’s operator’s manual: the fluid and part numbers, the manual DPF reset sequence, and the two jobs the company explicitly tells you not to attempt on your own.

One Engine, Two Machines

Standard Flow and Flow+ Aren’t the Same Test

Before you test hydraulic pressure on a lift or attachment complaint, confirm which system you’re actually running. Standard-flow machines are rated at 3,335 psi and 21.9 gpm. Flow+ (available only on the -LQF and -PLQF trims) runs 2,176 psi at 34.0 gpm, trading pressure for volume — not the other way around, which trips people up when they assume the bigger number always means more pressure. Clearing a DPF Regen Manually

If the regeneration warning lamp comes on and the automatic cycle hasn’t cleared it, KIOTI’s manual lays out a specific sequence rather than leaving it to guesswork:

  1. Park on a flat surface.
  2. Idle the engine.
  3. Press the parking switch and confirm the park lamp is lit.
  4. Run the engine 3–4 minutes, then hold the regeneration switch’s activation side for about 2 seconds.
  5. The warning lamp goes off, and the process indicator blinks. Let it run 30–40 minutes before resuming work.

Only use the deactivation side of that switch in an emergency — excessive white smoke, for instance — not as a way to interrupt a normal cycle early.

What a Fault Code Is (and Isn’t) Telling You

The instrument cluster reports faults as SPN/FMI pairs — the J1939 heavy-equipment standard, not the OBD2 protocol your truck uses. A few from the manual’s own table: SPN 705 covers high or low battery voltage, SPN 707 flags low alternator voltage, and SPN 841 is an ECU communication fault. Owners on TractorByNet have reported that KIOTI doesn’t publish a full code list to customers — dealer techs look codes up internally, which is a real source of frustration but also means a 705 or 707 code is worth checking yourself before paying someone to tell you your battery’s low. A Fluke 115 multimeter will confirm charging voltage at the battery in about two minutes. Beyond that — and for anything on the engine or fuel side — you’re back to a J1939-capable code reader, not a bargain OBD2 scanner off Amazon; those don’t talk to equipment built to this standard at all.

Grease Points and the Wiring You Can Protect Yourself

Track tension on the TL750 is a grease-adjusted system, and it’s on the same routine service list as the fittings on the lift arm and pivots — a pistol-grip grease gun is the basic tool for it. Separately, more than one owner account on Heavy Equipment Forums has pointed to wiring harness issues — chafing, poor grounds, connectors working loose — as an early-life weak point on these machines. Dielectric grease on exposed harness connectors won’t fix a bad ground, but it’s cheap insurance against the corrosion that turns a minor short into a real one; Permatex dielectric grease is the standard choice for that.

Two Systems KIOTI Says to Leave Alone

The manual is direct about two things: don’t inspect or repair the fuel injection system, and don’t get into the hydraulic pump itself. Both go back to an authorized dealer. That’s a bigger ask on this lineup than it would be on a more established brand — multiple owners describe a thinner parts and service network behind Kioti’s construction line than Bobcat or Kubota can offer, which means factoring in a longer wait, not just a bigger invoice, when one of these two systems is the problem.

One more thing worth knowing before you assume the worst: there’s no recall on the SL750 or TL750. That’s the real shape of Kioti skid steer repair right now: a short list of fluids and part numbers you can act on today, a manual reset sequence KIOTI already wrote down for you, and two systems where the smartest repair is picking up the phone.

Are Kioti skid steer parts hard to find? Filters and routine service items are generally easy to get. Anything specific to an older or discontinued configuration can take longer, since the parts network behind this line is newer than Bobcat’s or Kubota’s.

Can I use a regular OBD2 scanner on a Kioti skid steer? No — this machine runs J1939, the heavy-equipment diagnostic standard, not the OBD2 protocol built into passenger vehicles. An automotive scanner won’t read anything on it.
