What tends to fail on each major tractor brand, and how bad it is when it does. Covers John Deere, Kubota, Kioti, LS, Mahindra, Massey Ferguson, New Holland, Case IH, and Yanmar — common failure points, model years worth knowing about, and how parts availability and dealer support stack up.
Kioti skid steer repair splits cleanly into two piles: the maintenance and adjustments KIOTI expects owners to handle themselves, and the handful of systems its own manual says to leave to a dealer. That line gets blurry on a lineup this new — the SL750 and TL750 have only been on dealer lots since late…
Type “LS tractor recalls” into a search bar and what comes back is mostly noise: owners disagreeing over whether something even counts as a recall, dealers giving three different explanations for the same repair, and no plain statement anywhere of what’s actually on file with federal regulators. None of that confusion is because LS Tractor…
Type “compact tractor brands to avoid” into Google and you’ll get the same three or four names recycled across a dozen sites, usually with no real reason attached beyond an angry thread from 2019. The more useful question isn’t which badge to avoid — it’s who actually built the machine wearing that badge, and whether…
Kioti skid steer problems are hard to research honestly, because most of what’s written about these machines was produced by people who’ve never stood next to one. The SL750 and TL750 have only been on the market a few years, so the truthful answer to “what goes wrong with these” is shorter than you’d like…
Yanmar tractor problems don’t get talked about nearly as much as Kubota’s or John Deere’s, and that’s partly because the biggest issues with these machines aren’t really mechanical — they’re about what happens after you own one. Tariffs are shaking up pricing on every Japan-built tractor right now, and if you’re running an older or…
Case IH tractor problems have quietly changed shape over the last decade, and if you’re still troubleshooting the way you did in 2005, you’re going to miss what’s actually going wrong. The newer machines lean hard on electronics and emissions systems, CNH just got pulled into a right-to-repair fight it didn’t start, and parts backorders…
New Holland has a solid reputation, and it’s mostly deserved. But the failures that do show up tend to get misdiagnosed in expensive ways — a cold-start problem chased as fuel, a transmission fault treated as a rebuild, a fuel issue that no visual inspection will ever find. Why Cold-Start Failures Get Misdiagnosed The single…
Massey Ferguson tractor problems don’t get talked about the same way John Deere or Kubota issues do, and that’s exactly the problem — because the owners who get burned the worst are usually the ones who bought without knowing what to watch for. This article covers the real Massey Ferguson tractor problems, the model-specific issues…
The gap between LS owners who love their machine and owners who regret it comes down to two things: which dealer they bought from, and whether the right hydraulic fluid went in. Almost every recurring LS problem traces back to one of those. The mechanicals underneath are sound — the failures cluster around how the…
Kioti doesn’t get the forum traffic John Deere or Kubota does, but enough of these Korean-built machines are in American farm country now that clear patterns have emerged. Most of them aren’t engine or drivetrain failures — they’re assembly quality, loader hardware, and one specific electronic transmission. Daedong, Dealers, and Why That Matters Kioti is…
